Default Unofficial Guru GW2 question thread?

Can we start one so the devs and public can just look up one thread?

Anyways here is my question:

In GW, during the first BWE we were able to reserve names for the retail release.
Will having previous ownership allow us to preserve names from GW to GW2 since you have mentioned something about Hall of memories or something relating to our original GW characters.

Thanks in advance

Here's how I'm guessing it will work:

You complete EotN and then you can deposit your name, experience points, and titles in the Hall of Monuments.

You then buy GW2 and at the beginning you go to the Hall of Monuments and try to pick up your stuff. The guard will say "You!? A Vanquishing hero? I think not, prove yourself by getting to lvl20, and I'll give you access to the Hall of Monuments".

(Anet want us to play through the beginning of the game so people aren't high level immediately - give the new players a chance to keep up)

Then when you arrive at lvl20 you go back and the guard says "Sorry, my mistake", he then salutes you and opens the door. You visit your statue and transfer your stuff, and the experience points get appended to the experience points you earned getting to lvl20.

That's just how I saw it working, I haven’t read the PC Gamer article, it might explain it all there for all I know.

I am hoping by "deposit" we don't lose them on our current character.

Questions:

1. Is it true from reading that we can take our minipets into GW2?

2. Is there a level that, beyond which, any increases are cosmetic or does every level actually impact ones PvE strength? For example... is a level 20 equal in PvE strength to a level 100 or does a level 100 have more PvE "power" than a level 99.

minipets? where did you hear that? that should be interesting as i have loads of minipigs and a few others

I do hope this hall of monuments lets you do more than titles. Maybe use your characters as your companions?

I dont recon the'll stop GW1 servers anyway becuase how will we get more titles onto our characters if we don't have access to the game? If they do plan shutting down, i would like to have a total XP from all characters which you can spend on things

There was a blurb about the Hall that mentioned them... I'd like confirmation.

Will GW2 have:
1)Mounts
2)Tradeskills (mining,herbalist, etc)
3)Barbershop/stylist

That is all i can think of for now

About the partial "transfers" from GWEN to GW2: Will we be able to port our rank/fame? Some of us have invested a lot of time in that. This seems like a pretty disappointing way to lose all that work.

Default EOTN PvP ?

From what Ive read so far, EOTN is only going to have 100 skills that actually matter in PvP, and everything else is going to be a PvE thing. Is this true ? Will eye of the north shuffle pvp players off to the side ?

Im just wondering if anyone has heard anything about eotn pvp, because it sounds like pvp'ers are getting the short end of the stick with this one.

With the introduction of a persistent, non-instanced world, will map travel be removed from the game?

This question is for ANET, NCSOFT and MMO Guru alike.

Will we receive any of the information (albeit in a different non copyright infringing form) contained in the magazine officially from ANET/NCSOFT staff?

Also when will the ban on talking about the new features of GW2 that have been discussed in the magazine (and will obviously be discussed by ANET and NCSOFT staff in the future) be lifted... This info is something many Guild Wars players will want to discuss and speculate on, such as playable classes etc.

Answering these questions will stop any more people such as myself being threatened with bans and suspensions on this forum in regards to talking about Guild Wars and any so called copyrighted information.

Regards

Will the world be open and no longer suffer invisible walls? I want to climb over mountains, swim under water, and discover all sorts of points of interest not on the beaten path.

What EXACTLY is the Hall of Monuments?

This really affects whether I (and a bunch of my friends) will continue playing GW1 (or move to another game until GW2 comes out) and whether we will buy GW:EN at all. We are going to play another game for now until we know exactly what's going to happen - but would love to know if staying in GW1 and playing GW:EN is going to be worth our time.

Quite frankly, we don't mind at all if we can't bring any characters, gold, items, titles, experience, etc. over and we start GW2 completely fresh. Since you've let us know some data about GW2 and GW:EN, we just want enough information to make an informed decision on where to invest our gaming time and energy.

Thanks!

Well, idk if another GW2 thread is really needed, but here are a few helpful links to those looking for more info::

Probly a few more, maybe OP could add these and more to his post? The first linked one is so far the best one to refer too. The OP is also kinda enough to actively highlight quotes from Gaile Gray...

Cheers~!

Is this announcement just a weird April's fool joke in an attempt at viral advertizing? I'm still hoping it is.
Or is massive raids with dozens of other level 666 bunny-looking characters really the future of GuildWars?

I just hope with persistant worlds we can now build castles or other suitable homes for our characters.

Seriously.

That can get messy. Perhaps if they were pre-built into the world and we could fight for/capture them from other players, or even from NPCs. Then a million homes wouldn’t litter the landscape – they could be placed artistically by Anet.

Then if there isn’t enough for everyone, it provides the motivation for fighting over them.

Lol. 3 mil + homes. Likely to happen? Probably not.

I just want much more customizable guild halls.
